Word Power began over two decades ago with a simple mission: to create a comprehensive, reliable, and entirely free educational resource for English learners worldwide. What started as a local digital study companion in September 2002 under 'www.wordpower.ws' has grown into an extensive archive of structured grammar guides and exercises, practical phonics tools, vocabulary and popular literature.
In July 2025, the entire 23-year-old resource library was completely updated, modernized, and migrated to its permanent home here at www.wordpower.uk to continue supporting students of all ages and proficiency levels.

Behind the resource library is a desire to help people communicate clearly. I am a native English tutor from the United Kingdom with over 25 years of tutoring experience, helping both young learners build foundations and corporate professionals master real-world fluency.

My approach to language tutoring is shaped heavily by my diverse background. Before transitioning into full-time tutoring, I spent years working inside fast-paced corporate environments like COSCO Shipping and EDIasia. This experience allows me to mentor adult learners, university students, and business executives in practical, high-impact workplace communication - ranging from crisp corporate email etiquette to confident seminar delivery.
Deep Roots in Hong Kong
While I am currently based back home in the United Kingdom, I spent more than two decades living and working in Hong Kong as a private freelance tutor. During that time, I raised my own family through the local Hong Kong school system from kindergarten through to secondary level. This gave me an invaluable, firsthand perspective on the demanding homework schedules, intense exam structures (like the DSE), and highly competitive interview cultures that students navigate daily.
Because of this, I specialize in bridging the gap between native British English immersion and the exact educational realities my international students live through.
